Our department has succeeded in proving it\u2019s merit in Pediatrics Urology field, following the practice of it\u2019s founder Do\u011fan Remzi MD, Prof. since 1960\u2019s. Surgical procedures operated by him and his team on anti-reflux, bladder neck operations and Wilms Tumor cases, have been initial in our country history. He has also been the first Turkish person to be cited in Campbell\u2019s Urology, a fundamental source for Urology, with an article on bladder stones in pediatric patients. Due to his prioritization in specialization, Specialty Education in Urooncology (1996), Pediatrics Urology (1999) and Endourology (2002) fields have been initialized in their respective years.<\/p>\n
This process had been further accelerated following Serdar Tekg\u00fcl MD\u2019s completion of his Pediatrics Urology studies with Micheal Mitchell MD in Washington (Seattle) in 1995, and his return to form up Hacettepe University Pediatrics Urology Department as a full time academician.<\/p>\n
Pediatrics Urology education was launched with Cem Akbal MD\u2019s acceptance in 2000 as first subbranch physician, followed by Berk Burgu MD, Hasan Serkan Do\u011fan MD, Fatih \u00c7anakl\u0131 MD, Onur Kayg\u0131s\u0131z MD, Artan Koni MD, Ali Cansu Bozac\u0131 MD; whom have all completed their education process, providing important pediatric urology practice in our country. Currently, Taner Ceylan MD is undergoing training in our facility as a subbranch physician.<\/p>\n
Our clinic, being first in Turkey (in first 5 in Europe), has been accrediated by European Society for Paediatric Urology as a valid educational institute in 2008. It has been re-accredited in this field in years 2013 and 2018. Acknowledgement by European Board of Urology in the field of Pediatric Urology has been stated in 2019 as an EBU Host Center.<\/p>\n
During this period, urologists applying to our institute, domestic or abroad, have received their education within 6-9 months of rotations, enhancing their theoretical and practical appliances in pediatrics urology.<\/p>\n
